Installing on macOS.

Four steps. Drag the app in, unlock it once, open it. Everything runs locally on your Mac — nothing is uploaded anywhere, and there's nothing else to install.

Applies to: QuantWatch  ·  QuantWave Trade — same steps for both.

Download and open the disk image

  1. On quantwave.app → Downloads, press Download for macOS and enter your developer invite code.
  2. In your Downloads folder, double-click the .dmg file — a window opens.

Drag the app into Applications

In the window that opened, drag the app icon onto the Applications folder shown right next to it. That's the whole installation — no wizard, no setup.

One-time If macOS asks for your password to copy into Applications, enter it. When the copy finishes, you can close the window and eject the disk image (drag it to the Trash / Eject).

Open it the first time

The app isn't signed with Apple, so the very first open needs one approval. On macOS Sequoia a plain double-click shows “Apple could not verify…” with only Done — that's expected. Do this once:

  1. Open Applications and double-click the app. In the message, press Done.
  2. Open Apple menu → System Settings → Privacy & Security.
  3. Scroll to the bottom. Next to “…app was blocked”, press Open Anyway.
  4. Confirm with your password or Touch ID.
  5. Double-click the app again — now the message has an Open button. Press it.
Older macOS (Sonoma and earlier) Simpler: in Applications, right-click the app → Open, then Open in the dialog. No System Settings trip needed.

Done

The app window opens with your dashboard. From now on it starts by itself when you log in, and this approval never repeats. Closing the window doesn't stop tracking — all data stays on your Mac.

Window tracking (optional) To see app names in your activity, macOS will ask once for permission — grant aw-watcher-window under System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility and Screen Recording.
Apple Silicon (M-series) On the first open the app may ask for your password once to install Rosetta 2 (needed for its engine). Press through it — Intel Macs skip this entirely.
Uninstall Drag the app from Applications to the Trash. To remove autostart too, delete the app.quantwave.* files in ~/Library/LaunchAgents.
